What is a knitted wire mesh? Find out here

If a metallic wire strand that is knitted into a mesh structure, it can be formed into a durable sheet that is used for different industrial purposes. This is called knitted wire mesh which is used in different applications.
Knitted wire mesh is made the same way as how your sweaters and stockings are made because it uses the metallic wires to be knitted to produce a mesh of interlocking loops which can be moved relative to each other at the same plane even without any distortion of the mesh, thus it gives a knitted mesh a stretchy and a very flexible structure.

From its functional point of view, it is the flexibility of knitted wire mesh that can provide you a lot of advantages especially for industrial purposes.
There are different knitted wire mesh forms that you can use, and one of it is the crimped knitted wire mesh that is a processed knitted wire mesh product that is used in making compressed units for filtration, flame arrestors, as well as shock mounts. This type of mesh can be formed through two methods; first is the pulling of a custom made die in compressing the material, and second; it is formed through running the mesh through a calendaring roller to make a continuous strip of compressed mesh.
The finished product is highly available in different densities according to the metallic volume of the mesh that usually ranges from ten to seventy percent that depends on its performance required for the application of the mesh.
Another type of mesh form is the shaped knitted wire mesh that uses the natural resilient structure of the material in maintaining its desired shape for your application. Because each of the loops acts as a small spring if it is subjected to compressive stress or tensile as the knitted metal acts to its inherent resiliency.
If it is not distorted beyond its yield point, the material can resume its original form when the stress or the pressure is removed even when it is compressed into a special shape or a high degree of resiliency that is retained. The varying knitted structure, as well as its diameter, and the material used in the shaped knitted wire mesh can be used to make the part that can control the pressure that makes it as its main characteristic.
The knitted wire mesh has many industrial applications such as exhaust dampeners, seals, gaskets, flex-joints, chemical separation and EMI/RFI shielding because of its flexibility, durability, and the ability to be molded firmly with the equipment’s structural form.
There are different materials that can be made into knitted wire mesh and these are; stainless steel, aluminum, copper, tinned copper, Inconel 600, monel 400, Hastelloy c-276, tungsten, phosphor bronze 507 and 510, tantalum, platinum, gold alloy, gold plated copper, silver-plated copper, and silver-plated brass.
